Historical evolution of Severance reservoir, in Camp Creek, within the Crooked River watershed, in central Oregon.


A. The reservoir was built in the 1940's to store water for irrigation purposes.
B. In the 1960's, the reservoir was used for rainbow trout fisheries.
C. In 1987, the reservoir filled up with sediment [Top photo taken in 1989].
D. It has since succeeded to a wet meadow, with a sagebrush flat and a sedge community (Carex juncus) slowly progressing upstream of the dam. [Bottom photo taken in 2004].
